For every one tonne of paper that is recycled, approximately 7 mature trees can be saved from unnecessary destruction and 2 cubic metres of landfill tipping prevented. This process saves thousands of trees each year.

Recycled paper uses around 43% less energy, 50% less water and 72% less air pollution than one tonne of paper products made from virgin wood pulp.

To encourage all our customers to help with our recycling policy, at the end of the year for every one tonne of paper that has been recycled on your behalf we provide a personalised ‘Tree Saver Certificate' that confirms the number of trees you have saved.

M1 Document Solutions ltd. is an independently owned All-island "On-site" document shredding and storage company, with our head office in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan. Our focus will always be on providing good customer service within the context of the utmost security and confidentiality, while being socially responsible in all we do.

M1 Document Solutions Ltd. operates a robust Environmental Management System (EMS)

We understand the impact our business has on the environment and we have identified significant aspects which include but are not limited to:

• Minimising the effects of transport

• Maximising Recycling of shredded products

• Minimising waste to landfill

• Recycling of printer cartridges with our partner charity "The Jack and Jill Foundation"

• Use of recycled paper in our promotional and administrative material

• Efficient use of energy resources with regard to turning off electrical applicences etc


The management of these significant aspects is documented within our EMS. This statement lays the foundations for minimising these aspects and provides a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets on a bi-annual basis, taking into account the following matters:

• We will continuously improve environmental performance based on the targets and objectives set by the board.

• We are committed to minimising the risk of pollution, reducing the level of waste and emissions that arise as a result of the normal day to day business activities of the company.

• We are committed to complying with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements as they arise. The company recognise that legislative requirements and industry codes of practice are a minimum level of performance and it is the intention of the company to supersede these requirements as a matter of course.

• We recognise the importance of training and education of environmental management controls to all employees across our business; it is integral to our EMS that staff understand the impact they have as individuals, and the impact their actions have on the environmental performance of the organisation and indeed the sustainability of the planet itself.

• We will monitor our progress and review our environmental performance on an annual basis.

• We will undertake 'greening of the supply chain' to ensure our suppliers achieve at least minimum standards of environmental performance.

• We are committed to participate actively in environmental discussion groups through industry associations and initiatives to help raise awareness and improve industry wide performance.

• We will communicate this policy statement to all employees via the company intranet and by displaying signed policy statements on notice boards. The policy will also be made available to all via the company website www.confidentialpapershredding.ie .

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated periodically.
